Health Care Action Day @The Capitol-Hartford

To: Protect Our Care CT

Please join us on May 1 at HEALTH CARE ACTION DAY to tell legislators it’s time to act on health care:

  • Preserve HUSKY/Medicaid, including Medicare Savings Program (MSP)
  • Establish new health insurance choices for small businesses/nonprofits/individuals (HB 7267 and SB 134)
  • Lower the cost of prescription drugs (HB 7174)
  • and more (we are working with Women’s Health Lobby Day)

Gather at 10:00 am in Room 1D of the Legislative Office Building for an issues briefing and outline of the day.

What’s Next for Litchfield

A forum to examine the issues that will shape the future of our town.  There will be a presentation of several of the important decisions ahead of us, including the path towards school regionalization, our choices concerning the aging Town Hall and Bantam Town Hall Annex buildings, the management of the Town’s debt, and decisions affecting the quality of the education we provide for our children.

There are many different points of view about these issues.  The Litchfield Democrats offer this opportunity to hear and discuss them in an open forum, and find ways to work together to build the best future for the Town.  All are welcome.

This gathering is family friendly, and light refreshments will be served.

Meeting on Toll Roads with Sen. Miner et. al.

TORRINGTON– State Senator Henri Martin (R-31) and State Rep. Laura Devlin (R-134), the Senate and House Ranking members of the Legislature’s Transportation Committee, along with local legislators Sen. Craig Miner (R-30), Sen. Kevin Witkos (R-08), Rep. Jay Case (R-63) and Rep. John Piscopo (R-76) invite the public to attend an informational forum on tolls at Torrington City Hall on Monday March 11th from 7-8:30pm.

The event will allow for residents to share their concerns, get their questions answered about the proposals that are being considered, and discuss potential alternatives to tolls. Torrington City Hall is located at 140 Main St., Torrington, CT.

Health Care Public Option Hearing in Hartford

PUBLIC HEALTH CARE OPTION EVENTS

Public options for health care will be a focus for legislative work Thursday, March 7.

The public hearing on HB 7267, An Act Concerning Public Options for Health Care in Connecticut, will be held that day. Legislative sponsors are holding a press conference to highlight the importance of this proposal before the hearing. You can be part of this important day. We are asking people to come to the Legislative Office Building between 10:30 and 2:30 to let legislators know how important affordable, quality health care is. We will have information about activities in the 2nd Floor Atrium (outside the Human Services Committee offices). Here’s the schedule:

9:30 – Sign up to testify at public hearing begins (see details below)
10:30 – Press conference on Public Health Care Option – Room 2D
11:00 – Visibility actions in the LOB, outside the hearing room
12:00 – Public hearing – Room 2D. First hour reserved for public officials

Instructions on how to sign up to testify – or submit written testimony:
Sign-up for the hearing will begin at 9:30 A.M. in the First Floor Atrium of the LOB. Please email written testimony in Word or PDF format to INStestimony@cga.ct.gov. The Committee requests that testimony be limited to matters related to the items on the Agenda. The first hour of the hearing is reserved for Legislators, Constitutional Officers, State Agency Heads and Chief Elected Municipal Officials. Speakers will be limited to three minutes of testimony.
